Comment: On 11/30/11 I took my two year old son, A to the Dr.'s Office of Adebayo Odunlami located in Ocala fl. My son had at that time been experiencing a fever for three days and had developed a harsh cough and was complaining about his "mouth" hurting him. I immediately took him in after the complaints about his mouth hurting; my son wouldn’t eat and was barely sleeping. I told the Doctor this and he proceeded to look him over, rather quickly and stated that my son was "PERFECTLY FINE" and that he just had a little cold. I asked him for some cough medicine and he reluctantly prescribed me Bromphen. Then he told me to bring him back in in five days. The very next day the symptoms were still there and my son was still screaming about his mouth, I looked at his mouth under a flashlight and discovered that he had blisters on the inside of his lips. The doctor DID NOT check his mouth thoroughly the first time so I decided to take him back in. On 12/1/11 I called, told the receptionist that I was on my way and that something was going on with my son other than just a "little Cold", she told me to head right in, I got there, was promptly put in a room and when Dr. Odunlami came in he looked at me and my son and said very harshly " Weren’t you in here yesterday? What’s the problem" I then stated that "He must have missed something because I think this is more than just a little cold." This "Dr." then proceeded to start YELLING at me that" You people need to come in here with common sense" I told him that "My son had blisters in his mouth , you didn’t see them yesterday" the DR. then (still yelling) proceeded to tell me that " I didn’t know how things worked around there and that my son was no longer welcome in his establishment" Shocked I asked him to lower his voice, at this point my sick son was crying because this man was frightening us. I then asked him "if what he was telling me was he wasn’t going to see my son, and that if that was the case then I was taking him to the ER" he then looked at me and said "Oh really" and I said “yes”, he then started to wash his hands and then turned to me and yelled/demanded that " I lay that kid down so he can examine" I said "Absolutely not, I do not feel comfortable with you and you are scaring my children, I am out of here." I gathered my kids up and walked out and he then screamed at me while I was walking out the door" You have a great day." I immediately took my son over to MRMC emergency room and was seen by professionals there, after telling them what just happened to me they looked at me with knowing eyes, I asked if this happened a lot and one lady replied that she could not, by law, say anything to that effect but I had my answer at that point and it was yes. My son was moved over to the Children’s Express and promptly seen and diagnosed with "Hand, Foot and Mouth disease" I was given the information I needed and was satisfied with the findings. Not only did Dr.Odunlami dismiss my son and myself on the first visit, he verbally and emotionally assaulted me and my kids. Something HAS to be done about this. I do not think that because I am a single mother with a low income that I should be treated like trash. He did not correctly diagnose my son, and granted this wasn’t a life threatening condition, but it could have been. Thank you for your time and help in resolving this matter promptly.
