I had a colonoscopy in Aug. 2010 with anesthesia from this company. Today, July 7, 2011, I receive an invoice (for the first time) from this company showing the amount paid by my insurance company in October 2010. BALANCE BILLING IS NOT PERMITTED by my insurance company; therefore, I consider this invoice a scam and wouldn't consider paying it.'

Today I received a notice from Innovative Anesthesia Solutions for a balance due them from SEPTEMBER 26, 2005, requesting payment of $420.10. SIX YEARS AFTER services and this was the first notice. I am being requested to either pay or produce proof of payment from six years ago. '

Same issue: doctor is reneging on an agreement with provider to a contracted amount and now going after patients, in many cases like mine, to get more than what insurance paid. These doctors are acting fraudulently and should not be permitted to practice medicine anymore. '

I had an elective endoscopy in March 2010. My gastroenterologist PROMISED me that I would not have an anesthesia bill. Blue Cross did not pay this and applied it to my deductible. T The GI physician ended is work relationship with Dr. Zegelstein and since then, she is billing patients. I received a bill for $1650 and cannot afford it. I offered to go on a payment plan for 300.00 and she does not respond.'

I have the same problem. What can be done? I had anesthesia back in 2005 for IVF. I called my insurance company and they told me this company kept submitting their bill at least 30 times without completing all the required information so the insurance company declined payment to Innovative Anesthesia. Now the period of time allowed to submit claim for payment is over because their paperwork was never done correctly. Now the company is billing me. This is not fair. '

I had a anesthesia in 2007. The insurance company paid the covered amount. A year ago this office sent me a bill for the balAnce which is not allowed by insurance rules. I spoke with them on the phone and was told that this matter is closed. Today I received a letter from collection agency for $1800.... THIS PROVIDER IS DISHONEST. '

Same story here. I had a colon exam in 2007 that they put me into a collection agency for even though Anthem already paid them what they were due. I'm still getting notices -- they are a total outrage.'

My mom is having a very similar issue with this company. My mom had a procedure done in 2007 in which the anesthesia services of this company were used at the NYC location of her doctor. Now 4 yrs later she keeps receiving bills for the amount of almost $1,700. When you call you can never speak to anyone because they answer the phone. I have left numerous messages and have never received a call back. Now my mom has received a collection notice. I will fight this until the end. My insurance paid for a portion of the amount and denied the rest of the charges. Meanwhile when my mom had the procedure done she was assured she would not be balance billed. This company continues to bill my mom's insurance even after 4 yrs. UNBELIEVABLE! Stay away from this company! Their billing practices are unfair and unethical.'

I have also recently been incorrectly billed for $1,650 in services that were already paid in full by Blue Cross Blue Shield back in late 2007/early 2008. At best, this provider's billing department is extremely incompetent! I have provided proof of payment to the collection agency and have requested written verfication that nothng is owed. I have not received it yet. If I don't get satisfaction shortly I may consider legal action. '

They have been trying to bill my insurance company for $1650 since February 0f 2006, they were paid and now they billed me $10 which is a co pay and I paid in June and now they are billing me $10 again This doctor is a scam and cant be trusted '

Outrageous is the only way to describe dr. Zegelstein. She presented her paper to be signed just before my procedure. She said it was just a form, and her and the doctor assured me that the payment from my insurance co. Would be fine. They had a falling out and now she is looking for the balance on what she figures she should get...they both know what they said to all the doctors patients. One bill is from 2008 Does anyone have any ideas how to get her to stop harassing us for more money...my insurance company paid her that's what she said would be fine. What a liar.'

I have contacted BBB and filed a complaint. I will re post here when I have some sort of idea what the bureau will do..I will not pay this women..this is not right. she knows that she agreed to accept the payment from insurance. they (both Doctors) worked that way for years.'

I just rec'd a bill (dated in Feb.2013) for an alleged service rendered over eleven years ago! If this isn't a scam, they are grossly incompetent. There aren't even statutes of limitations that long --except for murder. They can sue me before I will pay this, and I look forward to what the judge has to say to them.'

I have been incorrectly billed twice over the past year and a half for anesthesia fees that were paid in full by Empire Blue Cross. I was contacted in November 2011 by a collection agency representing Innovative Anesthesia Solutions. I provided info. from Blue Cross (check number and date of check) that verified I owed nothing. The collection agency sent me an email confirming this. In April 2013 I was billed directly from Innovative Anesthesia for the same amount -- despite the fact that I proved that I owed nothing. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It is impossible to contact Innovative Anesthesia Solutions -- certified letters are returned undelivered and if you call you get an anonymous voicemail message, never a human being. '

Hi everyone, I received a bill just like the rest of you for a procedure that was from 10 years ago. I could tell something was not right. My doctor's office said they have had many complaints and NOT to pay the bill (I was not going to). I have reported this to my local assemblyman, who will contact the Attorney General's office. My personal assessment is that Custom Anesthesia Services took over the practice from Innovative and is trying to get money that was paid long ago by going into old records. Don't bother with the BBB - they won't do anything to help. CONTACT YOUR LOCAL ASSEMBLYPERSON and have them contact the Attorney General's office to get your complaint counted. Mine is taking this very seriously. The more people that report, the better. You do not want this to come back at you by affecting your credit score if CAS decides to push this further.
