How to prepare for your laboratory appointment:
Fasting. If you have been asked to fast (abstain from eating), then don't eat or drink anything other than water 8 hours before your blood collection. Check with your doctor about requirements. Fasting is often required for testing glucose levels and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL).

I made an appointment online to be able to go on my lunch hour after sitting at the waiting area and hearing the nurse call people in order they came in I let her know i had an appointment which made no difference to her I still had to sit an wait my turn as if I was a walk in very dissapointed I was there for an hour!'
