How to prepare for your laboratory appointment:

Fasting. If you have been asked to fast (abstain from eating), then don't eat or drink anything other than water 8 hours before your blood collection. Check with your doctor about requirements. Fasting is often required for testing glucose levels and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL).

Medications. Continue taking all medication as prescribed unless otherwise requested by your doctor.

Available time. Some tests, such as glucose tolerance, may take several hours to perform.

View and Post Comments Regarding this Location: George Brisson: I made anappointment for deerfield beach facility for Jan 10 2012. App"t was scheduled for 8;55. I arrived there in plenty of time and the facility said my appt was at 8:25. I waited over one hour to get my bloodwork done. I KNOW that appt was scheduled for 8:55 because I was trying to get the earliest appt I could get, but could not get an earlier time.
