How to prepare for your laboratory appointment:

Fasting. If you have been asked to fast (abstain from eating), then don't eat or drink anything other than water 8 hours before your blood collection. Check with your doctor about requirements. Fasting is often required for testing glucose levels and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL).

Medications. Continue taking all medication as prescribed unless otherwise requested by your doctor.

View and Post Comments Regarding this Location: Carol Fox-Torres: I went for a blood draw on 10/28/11 the lobby was dirty and the staff preoccupied and unfriendly. My name was called but no verbal contact with the person who was going to stick a needle in my arm and take blood something that is very stressful for me!!! The person who took my blood hurt my arm after she stuck the needle in she kept turning it side to side and in a circular motion. She did not pick a vein anyone else taking blood from me chooses but what do I know. I know have an arm with a bruise the size of a Whopper! I am extremely dissatisfied with this location and will never go there again. My doctor's office told me he would send an online request there, next time I will tell Dr. Safko that location is unacceptable and expalin to him why. This particular service should be a pampering experience. I have cancer and I am already stressed this just made it worse. F.Y.I. we are human beings with health issues and should be treated nicely.'
