 | 2 Flask Rating for MR. RICHARD L. STANLEY M.A., L.P.C. Comment: I saw Richard twice alone before my wife came for a marriage counseling session. Things went very well during those sessions. Richard is very knowledgeable about the way the mind works in times of conflict and bad communication. However, when my wife came for our first joint session, she told him a name I allegedly called her and he actually started yelling at me - "You should be ashamed of yourself!" A therapist should NEVER condemn a patient like that. He also didn't allow me to fully answer back, saying he had to leave because we were running late (7:10). The reason we ran late is because our appointment was at 6pm and and he didn't see us until 6:15. He cut me off, and I referenced a communication sheet he gave me during a previous session, one that explains that one-way, static, no feedback communication is a lose/lose. He yelled at me again, "I don't need to hear that from you!" (pointing a finger) Richard is a great man, but this type of behavior was downright awful. Of course, I cannot file a formal complaint because he takes all payments for sessions off the books and keeps no records, because he claims the government has unlimited access to medical records. I called and left a voicemail to Richard explaining how I felt, and he never called back. So much for being accountable, as he teaches. |
