 | 1 Flask Rating for MR. JOHN P HARRIS LCSW Comment: several years ago we consulted J.P. Harris for couple therapy after I discovered my husband was having anonymous sex with men behind my back. needless to say I was very distressed. he was our 2 nd therapist.my husband claimed he was not gay and wanted to be with me. the 1 st one, an MD psychiatrist had told us after 3 months we " should swipe this booboo under the carpet ". we saw Mr Harris for 18 months once a week.after more chronic rampant lies, more men at home behind my back, more STD's I finally flew out of this cuckoos nest after feeling suicidal.I am divorced now,ex- husband IS gay and moved to Boystown. Mr Harris always listened, nodded yes, to the happy tune of an hourly 150 $ cash.only my 4 th therapist said flatly, point blank, at the 1 st meeting, why on earth a straight woman would want to maintain such toxic manipulative marriage to a gay man...duh. Not once Mr Harris suggested this. he basically fed my husband/our denial, yes. I blame myself for not taking responsibility and run away faster.but I believe Mr Harris still should have had the moral, ethical responsibility also to talk to me/us frankly. he never did, never judged, never gave his impression..only the next appointment ! basically 18 months of useless therapy.a Therapist is like an MD: they have to have the obligation to be ethical and make the correct diagnosis. |
